Time Entries Contract/Work Types

Is is possible to make the selection of a contract or work type a required field on time entries? We have clients where some work is included and some isn't and will get missed if not selecting the correct contract or work type, creating more work after to resolve. Thanks

Hi mate, the default work type is set on a per user basis and the default 'off hours' type is set globally. Work Types determine which contract the time entry flows onto automatically. Are you imagining we provide an option where the Work Type field is placed in the main UI and blank by default, requiring selection by the tech each time?

Hi mate. Yeah I think that would work. So for example, we have clients who pay by the hour, but we also provide services to them e.g hosting or telco where any support is included in the service price. Makes things awkward I know, but ideally we'd want a way that these tickets weren't charged... I was thinking work types or contract selection unless there's another way?

I have something similar. I have two worktypes, "managed IT" and "remote support" It's easier cause i'm pretty much just me, but we've got our contracts configured so that te people who have PAYG labour, the "remote work" and "onsite work" is excluded from, say, the "endpoint protection" contract the "fully managed" contract, just has both remote and managed IT included (and onsite if required) so the labour flows automatically to the correct contract, as long as labour type is checked correctly

thanks, yeah that sounds good. so a "Fully Managed" contract which has all the services you provide, and covers Managed IT work type, and then everything else is then charged PAYG? I think I would just like it to be a forced selection on time entries to select work type or contract, so that the entry isn't put against the wrong contract
